Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you and your family well. We understand that this is a difficult and uncertain time for many, and we want to reassure you that the safety, well-being, and dignity of our students and staff remain our highest priorities.
In accordance with guidance from the Minnesota Attorney General, ICE agents are not allowed to enter school buildings or remain on school property without a valid judicial warrant. Our school will always follow the law while doing everything within our authority to protect our students and maintain a calm, safe learning environment.
We also recognize that some families may feel anxious about coming to school at this time. For families who need it, an online learning option is available. If you would like to learn more, please contact the appropriate school administrator:
Elementary School:
Principal Laurie Mako — 651-645-1000 ext. 138
High School:
Principal Dr. Mohamud — 651-369-7555 ext. 409
Grades 6–7:
Please call 651-645-1000 ext. 100
While we strongly believe that in-person learning provides the best experience for students, we respect that each family’s situation is unique and will work with you to support your child’s learning needs.
If ICE agents are ever present on or near our campus during student dismissal, we will keep students safely inside the building and notify families right away through robocall and text messaging. No student will be released until we are confident it is safe and appropriate to do so.
This is an unusual and challenging time, but please know that you are not alone. Our school community is built on care, respect, and partnership. We are committed to walking through this together and supporting one another every step of the way.
With care and appreciation,
Samuel Yigzaw
