Catalyst for Systems Change Career Awareness Project
Dear Parents, Students and Staff:
I am delighted to share with you the success of our recent youth empowerment initiative, the Career Exploration Program, which was designed to inspire and prepare high school students for their future professional journeys. This program not only provided students with an opportunity to explore a variety of careers but also equipped them with practical skills in communication, critical thinking, and creative expression.
The Career Exploration program engaged the students in multi-step process to connect with professionals from diverse industries. Students were tasked with identifying careers of interest, preparing thoughtful, career specific questions, conducting interviews with professionals in those fields, and reflecting on their learning through two creative mediums: written essays and video storytelling.
The program had a profound impact on our students. Many reported feeling more confident about their future and gained clarity on the steps required to achieve their goals. The program also fostered valuable connections between students and local professionals, planting seeds for mentorship and networking opportunities. Furthermore. Students honed essential 21st century skills such as interviewing, research, writing, and digital communication.
We invite you to read the attached essays to learn more about the program from the participating students themselves. Their reflections and insights beautifully capture the essence of the experience.
A special thank you to the Center for School Change now known as Catalyst for Systems Change and Youthprise for partnering with our school to make this program possible. We deeply appreciate your support and look forward to collaborating with you again in the future.
Warm regards,
Samuel Yigzaw, Executive Director
